I chose this passage because I think that it describes Holden very well. This gives us another character trait about Holden and we see throughout the story that he does lie a lot. He also seems to be very proud of his lying skills, and me personally, it is not a trait in my life that I am pleased with.

I clearly see your interpretation, Amanda. Holden is truly an individual who lies constantly; however, as you stated that he seems "proud" of his lying capabilities, I must disagree with you. As Holden states "It's terrible," I feel as though Holden see's that this quality is one that he is not proud of. He may continue to lie, however, but I feel that he knows lying is wrong--as he feels guilt within himself, but may be holding this guilt inside in order to portray his "rough" exterior.
